Meet Gloria, Advanced Nurse Practitioner
As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, my role involves supervising handovers, assessing patients, making decisions on their requirements, and reviewing any investigations. I also support with the training and development of new and existing staff across the wider nursing team.
How long have you worked at St Rocco’s?
I have worked at St Rocco’s for 10 years.
What is your favourite food?
I love all different kinds of food so it is difficult to choose just one – I’m not a fussy eater so will eat pretty much anything.
What is your favourite song/music?
I am a follower of faith so enjoy listening to hymns, I find comfort in listening to them and they give me emotional relief and resilience.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself
I am a trained Church of England authorised Lay Minister which means I am able to carry out a church service, give holy communion and deliver prayers to the sick.
What is the best thing about your job?
Having the opportunity to be part of the hospice team is phenomenal and the job satisfaction I get is amazing and I have always had a strong passion for Palliative Care. I gave up my role as a Deputy Manager to begin my career at St. Rocco’s as a Staff Nurse on the day unit.
What do you do to switch off from work?
My children and my family are my relaxation. I have both a grown-up daughter and son who are in their 20’s and still live at home. I also turn to my faith and relax through prayer and hymns.
Finally, do you have a message to everyone who has Sponsored a Nurse?
