St. Rocco’s Community Fundraisers

The team that tackled 70-mile ultra marathon across Wales and England to raise money

Last weekend, a group of brave fundraisers took on the epic challenge of walking 70 miles from Llandudno to Warrington to support St. Rocco’s Hospice, marking its 40th year of providing free care to patients and their families.

The team began their adventure at Llandudno pier at 8am on Friday the 4th of July, following the coastal path and reaching the River Dee in Chester. They continued walking throughout the night and at 8am they reached Frodsham to enjoy a treat  before completing the final leg to Warrington where they joined friends, family and supporters in the Rope and Anchor pub to celebrate their achievement.

This was a serious challenge that required rigorous training, walking through the night with breaks every four hours.  They were supported by two vehicles including a nurse and a physio to ensure everyone’s safety and wellbeing.

Thank you to everyone who supported their fundraising efforts.  Their total currently stands at just over £15,000 with donations still coming in.  And there is still time to donate – visit their fundraising page: Llandudno pier to Warrington Walk

Lee, and his incredible friends, wives, and girlfriends proudly support St. Rocco’s Hospice after it has touched each of their lives.  They have had loved ones who received the compassionate care, comfort, and support that St. Rocco’s is known for.  These fundraisers are no strangers to a challenge. Over the years, they’ve cycled from Llandudno to Warrington, walked from Warrington to Salford, rowed, ran, danced in a Full Monty performance, organised Santa pub crawls, and even danced in our Strictly event—all for St. Rocco’s. Last year, their incredible efforts raised over £23,000, enough to fund a nurse for an entire year.
