Earlier this year, St. Rocco’s Hospice invited the community to help fundraise in their annual Bunny Hop and Knit-a-Chick events. Both proved a great success with the people of Warrington working together to raise £4,543.06 towards patient care at the hospice.
The Bunny Hop was a fun way for local children to join in and learn more about the Hospice and fundraising. The children wore their bunny ears with pride and hopped their way around playgrounds, school yards and nurseries in the spring air to raise money. Well done to St Alban’s pictured here and to everyone who took part!
You may have also noticed our lovingly knitted chicks, bunnies and sheep in various places around Warrington this Easter. Our Knit-a-Chick event saw overwhelming support and generosity from supporters. From staff members Zoe, Trish and Jen who knitted some adorable animals to community knitting groups like Stitch Station and Loving Hearts and Hands who used their creativity to knit a host of chicks for the hospice to sell. We also had support from individuals including Christine, Eileen, Vicky, Ann, Linda, Caroline and many more who worked magic with their knitting needles and crochet hooks.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated chocolate eggs to fill our chicks with including a generous donation from Haydock Commercial Vehicles. They helped to make our knitted chicks a little sweeter! Thank you to everyone who bought a chick, sold to families and friends or used them as prizes for Easter competitions and to local businesses like Ark Hair and Beauty who had them on their counters. Each one sold has helped bring money directly to the Hospice so that we can care for the people of Warrington who are coping with a life-limiting illness.
Bookings are now open for St. Rocco’s Elf and Reindeer Run. This activity is an excellent way to keep children active, engage them in fundraising, and show them how they can make an immediate difference to their local Hospice. You can choose the time and place in December, and we will supply free elf hats and antlers so children and adults can get into the festive spirit. We would be delighted if your organisation would join us this year. And for our crafty supporters, we are asking for people to knit or crochet mini snowmen to help us raise money later in the year.
